Within the context of a client centred framework and continuum based care model and in accordance with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) for a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse, standards of professional practice, Code of Ethics, and the vision and values of the organization, the Clinic Nurse provides holistic nursing care in an interdisciplinary clinic setting to designated clients with a variety of acute and chronic illnesses/diseases, including mental health and substance use, communicable diseases, and/or general health issues. Using the principles of harm reduction, the Clinic Nurse performs physical and mental health assessments, establishes, coordinates, reviews, and updates care plans, observes, monitors, and evaluates client progress and response to treatments, makes referrals and supports transition between services as needed. The Clinic Nurse provides education and counselling, and administers prescribed treatment, medication, and intravenous therapy in a safe and effective manner as required.
