RN Resident - Gastroenterology

The G100 the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit focuses on the treatment of complex patients suffering from GI Bleeds, Pancreatitis, Liver Failure, Multi-Organ Failure, Pre-Transplant, Crohn’s Disease, and Gastroparesis. The dedicated caregivers on this unit provide the highest quality, safest care to adult patients. We adhere to a strict patient-to-staff ration never exceeding 6 patients per caregiver. G100 has a positive, team-oriented and supportive culture with daily 7am huddles for both the night shift and day shift to start/end their shift with an optimistic mindset. Experienced caregivers on G100 are eager to educate newer nurses. A caregiver in G100 can expect to gain a strong medical foundation with true medical/surgical nursing. During Rapid Responses on the unit, you will enhance your critical thinking skills, gain ultrasound experience, and collaborate closely with providers on liver cases. G100 is a great unit to pick up knowledge and grow as a nurse. A caregiver in this role will work 7:00am to 7:30pm.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience

- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Responsibilities
- Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
- Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
- Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
- Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
- Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
- Document in patients’ medical records.
