Summit Pacific Medical Center is a public hospital district operating a Critical Access Hospital with a Level IV trauma designation, three rural healthcare clinics, and a seven-day-a-week urgent care clinic. The RN Resident will function under the general supervision of the Manager of Nursing Services and will render general nursing care with specific and basic knowledge in the principle, methods, and techniques involved in general nursing practice. The SPMC Nurse Residency Program utilizes the Iowa ONRP, which includes online modules covering essential competencies for new graduate nurses such as effective communication, time management, critical thinking, and patient safety. Following module completion, residents will engage in self-paced learning and reflective journaling to prepare for monthly live discussions where they can apply strategies to integrate competencies into their practice. The program culminates in a residency project and has a 1-year commitment.
