RN Registered Nurse Oncology Ambulatory

Banner Health•Tucson, AZ
•Onsite

About The Position

This RN role is a pivotal part of patient care at the Cancer Center, serving as the focal point between the interdisciplinary team and the patient. Unlike traditional hospital-based nursing, the RN manages a panel of patients at varying stages of oncology care rather than a set nurse-to-patient ratio following established care plans. Most duties are not direct patient care. Daily work includes patient communication, education and triage, mostly by phone or electronically; coordinating and preparing for patient-physician visits, including inpatient treatments; addressing medication needs and interpreting laboratory values and pathology; understanding treatment regimens, nursing indications and adverse reactions; and building relationships with physicians and other oncology team members. The position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards. It is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by the RN and others under their direction, and requires specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills to assess information and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to patients' physical and developmental ages. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The primary location is Banner - University Medical Center Tucson at 3838 N Campbell Ave. Travel to 1891 W Orange Grove Rd may be required, though it is not routinely required at this time.
