About The Position

The Community Outreach Nurse is a licensed professional who supports a community-based outreach team by delivering care and education at health fairs, screenings, vaccination events, and other public health initiatives throughout Sussex County and southern Kent County. Working closely with outreach leadership, this role helps plan and staff events while providing high-quality clinical care and excellent customer service as a representative of the organization. Responsibilities include assisting with daily event operations such as transporting supplies and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient set-up and breakdown, maintaining competency with equipment, and adapting to evolving community needs. Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and a commitment to community engagement and outreach growth are essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years recent experience as a professional nurse in a clinical setting.
  • RN - Registered Nurse
  • BLS - Basic Life Saving certification
  • RN, Graduate of an accredited nursing school

Nice To Haves

  • Professional nurse: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Prior outreach experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and adherence to established patient screening protocols.
  • Support community-based event operations, including staffing, assisting team members, addressing participant concerns, and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current clinical guidelines and recommendations, including vaccinations for influenza, COVID-19, and other infectious diseases; administer and document vaccines as required.
  • Provide professional healthcare services to diverse populations to support the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Deliver patient education, health screenings, and other appropriate healthcare services both within and outside of healthcare facilities.
  • Exhibit flexibility, adaptability, and collaboration in dynamic environments to assess needs and implement effective care solutions as part of a team.
  • Work independently to organize, monitor, and adjust tasks to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
  • Provide age-appropriate and culturally competent health education to individuals and communities.
  • Travel to designated locations to administer vaccines, conduct screenings, and support outreach initiatives as assigned.
