About The Position

Palestine Regional Medical Center, a 150-bed hospital recognized for its commitment to quality and safety, is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Recovery Room/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive care to surgical patients as they recover from anesthesia, contributing to a facility that holds a Leapfrog “A” Safety Grade, Platinum Award for quality, and certifications as a Chest Pain Center and Level IV Trauma facility. Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program.
• Current state licensure as Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
• BCLS certification required.
• ACLS certification as required by facility of practice.
• Minimum 1 year nursing experience.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Attentiveness.
• Interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Plans and administers professional nursing care to patients in the recovery room/post-anesthesia care unit.
• Cares for surgical patients as they recover from anesthesia.
• Monitors vital signs, such as heart or respiratory rate, blood pressure, or oxygen level.
• Comforts patients as they wake; may be required to gently restrain patients.
• Checks surgical site for excessive bleeding or swelling.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates care given, patient's status and reactions to interventions.
• Educates patients on care for the surgical wound or other post-discharge care.
• Performs work under minimal supervision.
• Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
