Seattle Children's is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) for their Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit (PBMU) on a 0.9 FTE Night Shift. The PBMU is a 41-bed unit dedicated to the evaluation and behavioral stabilization of children and adolescents (ages 4-17) with a range of emotional, behavioral, and neuropsychiatric disorders. These can include depression, developmental delays, attention deficits, anxiety, pervasive developmental disorders, conduct disorders, oppositional-defiant disorders, anorexia/bulimia, and psychosis. The unit also treats children with co-occurring conditions such as hearing impairments, chronic medical illnesses, or physical developmental disabilities. The PBMU employs an interdisciplinary model of care, involving RNs, child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychologists, mental health therapists, social workers, pediatric mental health specialists, special education teachers, and various therapists (occupational, recreational, art, music, speech). The RN's role is integral to this team, providing safe, family-centered patient care. This includes behavior management in a milieu setting, family/caregiver and patient education, group activities, supportive counseling, psychotropic medication management, and limited medical nursing services. The RN will function within their Scope of Practice, adhering to state regulations, ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and Seattle Children's policies. They will utilize the Nursing Care Process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team. The RN may also supervise and delegate tasks to other healthcare professionals. Additionally, the RN will contribute to Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating initiatives like Continuous Performance Improvement, Value Based Behaviors, Error Prevention, Patient Safety, and Workforce Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA).
