About The Position

Tryfacta is seeking a RN Psychiatric for our client in Amsterdam, NY 12010. This is a 13-week contract assignment. The role involves providing direct nursing care to patients in an acute psychiatric/behavioral health setting. Responsibilities include assessing patients' physical and mental health, monitoring changes, administering medications, developing care plans, ensuring patient safety, providing crisis intervention, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, documenting care, and educating patients and families. The nurse must adhere to infection prevention and facility policies, maintain accurate documentation, and perform other assigned psychiatric nursing duties.

Requirements

  • Active New York State (NYS) RN license required.
  • Minimum 5 years of psychiatric/behavioral health nursing experience required.
  • 2+ years of travel nursing experience required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required.
  • Must be willing to work night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM.

  • Previous experience in an acute psychiatric or behavioral health setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in an acute psychiatric/behavioral health setting.
  • Assess patients' physical and mental health conditions and monitor changes in behavior or clinical status.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Monitor patient safety and maintain a therapeutic environment.
  • Provide crisis intervention and respond appropriately to behavioral or psychiatric emergencies.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, social workers, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, medications, and progress accurately and timely.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, and ongoing care.
  • Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate significant changes in patient condition to the appropriate healthcare team.
  • Perform other psychiatric nursing duties as assigned.
