Within nursing services, the Registered Nurse assumes accountability and responsibility for providing “Patient Centered Care” for an assigned group of patients. The RN plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care with a holistic view, encompassing physical, developmental, emotional, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and functional status. The role involves orderly collection of information for comprehensive Standard of Care development, meeting identified patient care outcomes, and evaluating the effectiveness of nursing plans. The RN must follow established nursing objectives, standards, policies, and procedures, perform initial and ongoing assessments, ensure accurate documentation, adequate supplies, and be knowledgeable in equipment operation. The RN also acts as an educator to peers, patients, and their families, supporting service excellence and a healing environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Florida
  • Two current years of Acute Care experience in Progressive Care, Step Down or ICU
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers
  • ACLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers
  • NIHSS training (can be obtained through various organizations and learning systems that offer courses from the American Heart Association)
  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s)

Responsibilities

  • Assumes the accountability and responsibility as a professional nurse for providing “Patient Centered Care” for an assigned group of patients.
  • Plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care while providing a holistic view, which may include dimensions of physical, developmental, emotional, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and functional status.
  • Collects information to develop a comprehensive Standard of Care to meet identified patient care outcomes and evaluate effectiveness of a nursing plan of care.
  • Follows established nursing objectives, standards, policies, and procedures in administering nursing care.
  • Provides initial assessments as a baseline for future comparisons that can be made in order to individualize care.
  • Performs ongoing assessment and reassessment to meet the patient’s changing needs.
  • Ensures accurate documentation, adequate supplies and is knowledgeable in operation of equipment.
  • Acts as educator to their peers, patients, and their families.
  • Supports service excellence and a healing environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
