Requirements

  • 1 year recent acute care telemetry, critical care or step down unit.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • California RN license
  • Verbal and written communication skills and computer skills
  • BLS and ACLS certifications

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with A-line, CVP, and central monitoring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • CCRN or PCCN certifications

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate.
  • Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs.
  • Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options).
  • Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content.
  • Integrates education during the delivery of patient care.
  • Communicates patient's plan of care and significant changes to all members of the interdisciplinary team (using SBAR hands off reporting) and to the patient, family and significant others.
  • Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience.
  • Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict.
  • Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict.
