About The Position

A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients under the supervision of a physician. The responsibility of the procedure nurse is to closely monitor patients before, during, and after invasive and noninvasive procedures. The procedure nurse is responsible coordinating procedure time and scheduling. They are also responsible for conducting an initial and ongoing assessment designed to gather data relevant to the patient’s individual needs and age group. The procedure nurse will be responsible for starting IV’s, administrating medications, drawing lab work, taking patient history and performing patient assessments. Must be able to recognize risks and complications related to procedures through knowledge of physical assessment. The responsibility of the procedure nurse is to closely monitor patients before, during, and after invasive and noninvasive procedures. When not working in procedure area the nurse will assist providers and staff in the department within the patient care tasks or other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills.
  • Knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge of current trends and new developments.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education.
  • Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
  • BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.
  • Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of surgical specialty procedures
  • ACLS
