About The Position

A registered professional nurse responsible for the delivery of patient care for assigned patients on a specific shift worked. Coordination of all aspects of the medical plan and nursing standards of care using the nursing process. Also directs and guides the activities of other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke, Orthopedic/Spine)
  • Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
  • ACLS & PALS prior to coming off orientation
  • BLS
  • Minimum of two (2) years of RN experience
  • Must be a Registered Nurse licensed to practice as a professional nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Must have a strong desire to work with a high-risk and complex patient population.
  • Must have solid critical thinking skills and a strong application of the nursing process.
  • Must have effective adherence to infection control practices.
  • Positive attitude, with enthusiasm for caring for our community
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Demonstrates job related computer competence as seen in patient documentation and information retrieval, Meditech applications and GE applications.

  • Previous PACU or critical care experience
  • Previous ambulatory surgery experience

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of patient care for assigned patients on a specific shift worked.
  • Coordination of all aspects of the medical plan and nursing standards of care using the nursing process.
  • Directs and guides the activities of other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
  • Provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
  • Completion of annual Augusta Health education requirements and unit competencies.
  • Annual education required per hospital certification(s).
  • Practices within scope of Nurse Practice Act.
  • Familiar with current Standards of Peri anesthesia Nursing Practice.
  • Familiar with accrediting body standards applicable to daily work practices.
