About The Position
The Perioperative Nurse is directly or indirectly responsible for delivering total nursing care to the perioperative patient during various phases of the perioperative phase. Perioperative nurses use a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to patient care, assisting surgeons and surgical teams to care for a patient before, during, and after surgery (surgical procedures). Assists with orientation and training of new personnel and acts as a resource person for problems related to patient care.
Requirements
- Associate Degree of Nursing
- Current California Registered Nurse License.
- Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS
Nice To Haves
- At least one (1) year experience with surgery.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn, accepts change, and updates knowledge of nursing as evidenced by continuing education.
Responsibilities
- Delivering total nursing care to the perioperative patient during various phases of the perioperative phase.
- Using a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
- Assisting surgeons and surgical teams to care for a patient before, during, and after surgery (surgical procedures).
- Assisting with orientation and training of new personnel.
- Acting as a resource person for problems related to patient care.
- Utilizing the nursing process in the provision of Perioperative nursing care including, but not limited to proper identification of patients and procedures, along with their potential effects on the individual patient.
- Recognizing safety hazards and initiating appropriate preventative and corrective action.
- Improving and acquiring the abilities and skills necessary to enhance job performance.
