Job Summary Summary The primary purpose of your job is to provide nursing services in the Nursing Acute in accordance with the current applicable Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations and established policies and procedures as may be directed by the CEO, Director of Physician Services, CNE and practice providers. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Nursing required
  • Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • 2-3 years of Medical/Surgical experience 2-3 years required
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak clearly and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashion.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must possess the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses physical, psychological and social dimensions of the patient
  • Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries and disease and uses available resources in assessment process.
  • Provides written assessment of patient on admission.
  • Documents nursing intervention, patient response, effectiveness and complications and summarizes information on discharge.
  • Summarizes assessment data and makes a nursing care plan which is written and communicated to other patient care providers.
  • Implements clinical and technical aspects of care and nursing orders in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patients.
  • Functions within the limits of State Nurse Practice Act, hospital and nursing department policies and procedures.
  • Assesses, plans and implements instruction for patient and family needs.
  • Communicates such plan via Bedside Shift Report.
  • Provides verbal and written instructions including medication and side effects.
  • Reports patient care or management problems to Clinical Coordinator and /or supervisor when necessary and investigates and intervenes in problem situations reporting appropriate information.
  • Makes outpatient assignment based on acuity and staff qualifications and experience.
  • Coordinates unit routines, providing guidance to staff, orienting new staff, assuring presence and working order of emergency equipment.
  • Demonstrates ability to care for patients in various age group, pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Demonstrates ability to care for surgical patients.
  • Demonstrates ability to care for medical patients.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide safe environment for short-term psychiatric patients.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge and safe use of medications specific to the acute care patient population.
  • Identifies own learning needs and seeks opportunities for self growth, using and sharing skills gained through continuing education classes.
  • Has completed annual nursing competencies.
  • Has attended annual mandatory day.
  • Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills and physiological norms of patients, recognizing a patient’s psychological development and modifies approaches for patients.
  • Interview and communication techniques are age-appropriate.
