About The Position

Stamford Health Medical Group is hiring a temporary/contract RN for our Pediatrics practice in Stamford, CT! This role involves coordinating and developing patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and providing supervision & mentorship for non-RN team members. The individual will foster a respectful, collaborative environment that honors the needs, values, and preferences of every person served and the colleagues partnered with, in alignment with the Planetree philosophy. The team is well-established, highly productive, and close-knit, composed of patient-focused Physicians and multiple support staff members.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Valid license as Registered Nurse in CT
  • BLS Certification
  • Excellent customer service / communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and develops patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and follows all established standards of practice within the State and Federal guidelines.
  • Provides supervision and mentorship of non-RN personnel.
  • Serves as a resource to both staff and management in problem identification and resolution.
  • Reviews schedules and organizes patient flow; greet patients, documents patients concern, questions etc…accompanies patient to exam/procedure room and prepares patients for physical exam.
  • Performs initial patient interview; reviewing patient medical profile, H&P and document in EMR/manual charting as appropriate.
  • Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs, weight and reports any abnormalities to physician.
  • Assists with specimen collection and testing as necessary.
  • Documents pertinent information in EMR.
  • Assists patients as necessary i.e. walking, transferring, dressing etc…
  • Provides minor treatment as directed by physician, assists physicians with minor procedures.
  • Provides education as indicated after assessing the learning needs of the patient and or family.
  • Documents all patient related activities.
  • Schedules patient testing and pre-certifies if insurances require.
  • Responds to all telephone messages (patient, physician offices etc…)
  • Performs end of month checks for expired supplies and medication.
  • Stocks rooms/maintains inventory of exam/procedure rooms.
  • Orders supplies as needed.
  • Cleans the exam/procedure room & equipment after each patient.
  • Prepares exam /procedure room for next patient & physician needs.
  • Notifies patients of test results (per physician instruction) and follow up.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings, in service education opportunities and participates in continuing education programs.
