About The Position

CHI Health St. Elizabeth, founded in 1889, is a full-service, 260-bed, nonprofit regional medical center in Lincoln, Neb. St. Elizabeth specializes in newborn and pediatric care, women’s health, burn and wound, cardiology, oncology, emergency medicine, orthopedics, and neuroscience. They have an accredited Stroke Center, a verified Burn Center, and a State of Nebraska designated Level 3 Trauma Center. They are recognized for quick response times to heart attacks and are home to one of the few Pediatric Universal bed model units, providing specialty pediatric care in the same room for all levels of care. This role works in tandem with Emergency Room Providers and Pediatric Hospitalists and Specialists to provide expert care locally.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a pivotal healthcare professional, delivering compassionate, high-quality care that impacts patients' well-being and recovery. You will leverage your expertise to provide individualized, comprehensive care, making critical assessments, performing skilled procedures, and implementing patient care plans. Collaboration within an interdisciplinary team is key in this dynamic environment focused on optimal patient outcomes. The nursing process, which includes assess, plan, implement, and evaluate, is an ongoing process that can end at any stage. Assessment involves systematically collecting and analyzing psychological, physiological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors. Planning involves setting measurable and achievable short and long-term goals based on the assessment, in collaboration with the healthcare consumer and multidisciplinary team. Implementation involves executing and/or modifying the plan of care using assessment data, clinical reasoning, standards of care, and evidence-based practice, including care coordination, education, and discharge planning. The nurse is accountable for direct, indirect, or delegated care, following professional and legal standards for delegation. Evaluation involves a systematic, ongoing process to assess progress towards healthcare consumer goals, with revision of the plan of care when needed, involving the healthcare consumer and multidisciplinary team. All phases of the nursing process are documented in the healthcare consumer’s record.

Requirements

• Graduate of an RN nursing program, upon hire
• Registered Nurse: NE, upon hire
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 5 - months
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 5 - months
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 6 - months

Responsibilities

• Follow the nursing process which includes: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate.
• Demonstrates a systematic, dynamic way to collect and analyze healthcare consumer data including: psychological, physiological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic and lifestyle factors.
• Sets measurable and achievable short and long term goals according to standards of care based on the assessment by the nurse in collaboration with the healthcare consumer and multidisciplinary team.
• Implements and/or modifies the plan of care using assessment data, clinical reasoning based upon standards of care and evidence based practice. This includes care coordination, education and discharge planning.
• The nurse is accountable for the care directly, indirectly or through delegation. Professional and legal standards for delegation must be followed.
• Uses a systematic ongoing process to evaluate progress towards identified healthcare consumer goals.
• Revision of plan of care when needed involving the healthcare consumer and the multidisciplinary team.
• Documents all phases of the nursing process in the healthcare consumer’s record.
