The Judith M. Power Pediatric Dialysis Unit meets the unique medical, emotional and social needs of children and their families. It is the only dedicated pediatric dialysis unit in Northeastern Ohio affiliated with a full-service transplant center. The unit is staffed by specialists in nephrology and urology, nurses with experience in the care of children with renal disease, and pediatric social workers familiar with the problems these patients and their families face. The unit provides comprehensive care for children and adolescents undergoing hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.

Requirements

  • Graduate of approved school of nursing
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Or the American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross within first year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Provide all aspects of nursing care before, during and after hemodialysis treatment.
  • Perform ongoing monitoring, evaluation and documentation of patient status.
  • Recognize and respond accordingly to adverse events.
  • Assist in the Pediatric Peritoneal Dialysis Clinic.
  • Review, interpret and notify physician of lab results.
  • Establish a care plan in collaboration with the patient, family and health care team.
  • Monitor RO and water quality.
