Coordinates activities between defined areas and provides clinical leadership and expertise to ensure proper patient placement. Facilitates an atmosphere of collegial relationships among nursing personnel and others. Has major responsibility for the implementation of the vision, mission, plans, and standards of the organization and nursing services within their defined areas of responsibility. This role is critical for managing time-sensitive cases, including STEMIs, strokes, and other emergent transfers, and its absence creates significant operational and patient safety risks. The Patient Flow Coordinator serves as the central hub for patient movement across the organization and with external facilities. Responsibilities include coordinating interfacility transfers, facilitating emergent care pathways, communicating with providers and nursing leadership, and ensuring appropriate bed placement and resource utilization. This role operates continuously, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and directly supports regulatory compliance, throughput, and patient safety. Delays or gaps in coverage place increased burden on clinical teams and leadership and can negatively impact outcomes for high-acuity patients.
