About The Position

Katy Endoscopy Center is seeking an RN for its ambulatory surgery center. The posting describes an Operating Room Nurse who contributes in a circulating or scrub role and provides safe, effective nursing care until the patient is transferred to recovery. The role supports gastrointestinal procedures, including endoscopies, colonoscopies, and flexible sigmoidoscopies. The position is PRN.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• At least 1 year of experience in an operating room setting; ambulatory surgery center experience is preferred.
• Active RN license as required by the state of employment or appropriate compact licensure.
• Valid BCLS certification upon employment; online certification is not accepted.
• ACLS certification as required by the facility.

Nice To Haves

• PALS certification is preferred, although it may be required at some facilities.
• CNOR certification preferred.
• Experience in an ambulatory surgery center.

Responsibilities

• Oversee setup of instruments and equipment for the operating room, using preference cards and anticipating surgeons’ needs.
• Coordinate and oversee the operating room during a case as the circulator.
• Facilitate effective and efficient transitions between surgical procedures.
• Use appropriate body mechanics when moving patients to stretchers and operating room tables to prevent injury.
• Manage patient care and medication, including assisting with anesthesia.
• Review charts for completeness in accordance with documentation protocols before and after surgical procedures.
