The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) cares for post-surgical patients waiting for their anesthesia to wear off. An RN in this role, will also assist Anesthesia in the pre-operative area with regional blocks, large pops of total joints and same-day discharge. Not only will you help to enhance the experience of patients and their families, but Cleveland Clinic will help you out too. Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
One year of current acute care RN experience.
Will consider military RN experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Critical care experience

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care.
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns
Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol
