This position practices according to entity mandatory requirements, department expectations, and best practice standards of care, with a strong emphasis on customer service. The RN participates in ongoing Performance Improvement programs and cares for patients utilizing the nursing process with an interdisciplinary approach. Key responsibilities include providing effective patient and family teaching, initiating discharge planning, assessing patients for actual and potential problems, and documenting diagnoses. The role involves administering medications safely, including moderate sedation, managing patient pain, and utilizing restraints per policy. The RN must identify and report signs of neglect/abuse, care for terminally ill patients and families, and address age-specific needs. Specific duties include performing cardiovascular assessments, assessing physical, mental, and psychosocial status, and assisting physicians with minor/local surgical and gastroenterology procedures such as colonoscopy with polypectomy, biopsy, esophageal dilations, and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy. The role also includes performing pre and post-procedure phone calls, providing post-procedure patient care, and maintaining appropriate licenses and certifications. Proficiency in computerized nursing informatics is required.
