Join Guthrie Lourdes Cardiology in on Riverside Drive in Binghamton, NY, where you'll support a busy outpatient cardiology practice alongside 11 experienced Cardiology providers. This is not a typical clinic nursing role focused primarily on phone triage and paperwork. Instead, you'll play a key role in outpatient cardiac stress testing, working directly with patients before, during, and after diagnostic procedures while utilizing the clinical judgment and assessment skills you've worked hard to develop. You'll care for patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, structural heart disease, syncope, and hypertension. As part of a dedicated cardiology team, you'll collaborate closely with providers, monitor patients throughout testing, recognize changes in condition, and help ensure safe, high-quality cardiovascular care every day. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice. Essential functions and specific skills for the job are found in the unit specific onboarding checklist and in standards that are applicable to the specialty.

Requirements

Registered Nurse in the State of Practice.
At least one year of experience preferred.
Alternatively, less than one year of experience if transitioned from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program.
Must maintain BLS certification.
ACLS is unit dependent.

BSN in Nursing preferred.
Specialty Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Play a key role in outpatient cardiac stress testing, working directly with patients before, during, and after diagnostic procedures.
Care for patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, structural heart disease, syncope, and hypertension.
Collaborate closely with providers, monitor patients throughout testing, recognize changes in condition, and help ensure safe, high-quality cardiovascular care.
Perform and monitor exercise and pharmacologic stress testing.
Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patients' care.
Develop, update, and coordinate the patients' plan of care to achieve patient goals and to optimize outcomes and transitions across the continuum.
Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
Perform and maintain the currency of essential competencies as required by a specific area of hire and population served.
Effectively advocate for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote the autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs of those we serve.
Foster a learning environment for patients/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team, including students; facilitate formal and informal learning.
Accountable for safety, identify and correct problems, and integrate evidence and best practice into nursing care; use data and evidence to improve patient outcomes.
