About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking an RN to join its busy Orthopedic Clinic, which serves patients across all age ranges. The RN works as part of a team while also completing tasks independently. The clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no weekends or major holidays. The role involves answering and assessing patient inquiries by telephone and through other department-specific technologies, educating patients, directing them to appropriate care, and supporting clinic procedures and injections. The RN develops close working relationships with providers and works with multiple disciplines within and outside Sanford Health.

Requirements

Hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where nursing practice occurs, or possess multistate licensure if practicing in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
For telephone nursing practice, hold licensure in the states where the patients served reside.
Complete all requirements to obtain any license needed for the role within the first 30 days of employment.
Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.

Nice To Haves

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is preferred.
A bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.
One year of healthcare experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assess patient symptoms and medical needs over the phone using triage algorithms.
Respond to patient inquiries through telephone and other department-specific technologies, including MyChart messages.
Educate patients based on incoming calls and other inquiries.
Guide patients to the appropriate level of care.
Schedule patient appointments with appropriate healthcare providers, facilities, or physicians.
Document triage information and information provided to patients in health record systems.
Record patient health conditions for follow-up care.
Maintain and develop triage protocols and ensure patient healthcare information is updated on time.
Assist with procedures and injections.
Develop working relationships with providers and collaborate with multiple disciplines inside and outside Sanford Health.
