About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position on the Ortho/Neuro, MedSurg unit at Piedmont Eastside in Snellville, GA. The unit is a 17-bed hybrid unit specializing in acute CVA's and TIA's, along with post-operative care for knee, hip, and spinal surgery patients. The unit also manages all types of medical/surgical patients. The position offers a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000. The role emphasizes standards of practice such as bedside report handoff, purposeful rounding, quality initiatives (pain assessment, pressure ulcer prevention, infection prevention), and utilizes EPIC electronic health records. The unit is supported by a unit educator, a charge nurse with a reduced patient load, virtual nurses, a Nurse Extern program, a Residency program, and a Career Advancement Program (CAP).

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • No experience required
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure
  • Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support

Nice To Haves

  • Acute Care, Hospital experience highly preferred
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable
  • ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days
  • CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) preferred
  • PALS Certification - required at Piedmont Columbus Hospital (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date)
  • PEARS or PALS Certification - required at Piedmont Athens Hospital (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification – prior to independent chemotherapy administration Upon Hire
  • NRP by the end of orientation period
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start date
  • Experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 6 months to obtain the PALS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients.
  • Functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
  • Maintains standards of practice and coordinates patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
  • Performs patient assessments, including collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial, and health history.
  • Evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments, and patient/family education.
  • Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs.
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Provides patient care specific to the setting, identified needs, and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment, or disability.
  • Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
  • Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educational goals of the patients.
  • Communicates issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.
