About The Position

The RN or LPN generally assumes a charge nurse role which is key in providing a productive work environment, quality resident care, and front-line leadership. Reporting to the nursing supervisor, the charge nurse maintains unit morale and ensures daily compliance of Federal, State, and local regulations.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse curriculum from an accredited program.
  • Possess a current LPN or RN Ohio license.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Federal regulations and Ohio State regulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills. Knowledgeable of teaming principles and applications.
  • 2-year’s experience in long term health care

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the unit morale by providing a team based work environment through effective team leadership and a demonstrated positive attitude, including STNA assignment and supervision.
  • Assumes a lead role in employee related issues such as discipline, performance evaluations, retention, and development of qualified personnel.
  • Works with the Nursing supervisor to ensure compliance of Federal, State, and local regulations that govern the long-term care industry.
  • Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-departmental and cross-functional personnel.
  • Facilitates unit communications by conducting regular meetings with staff personnel designed to identify and correct problem areas and/or the improvement of services.
  • Responsible for the training and skills assessment of assigned nursing personnel. Ensures all unit members are knowledgeable and compliant with resident’s rights and responsibilities.
  • Assists with the admission, transfer, and discharge residents.
  • Participates in preliminary resident needs assessments and in the development of a written plan of care.
  • Performs daily resident visits to assess and evaluate resident status changes and nursing needs.
  • Completes medical forms, evaluations, and accident/incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Administers medications and performs treatments as directed by the attending physician or nursing supervisor.
  • Accountable for the proper maintenance of written procedures outlining the administration, storage, and control of medications and medical supplies.
  • Consults the nursing supervisor and/or attending physician in the planning, treatment, and rehabilitation of assigned residents.
  • Ensures proper notification of appropriate personnel when a change in the resident’s condition occurs.
  • Remains current of applicable regulations and procedures by professional publications and attending applicable seminars.
