The Unit Manager is an RN or LPN who is responsible for the overall supervision of nursing care in the Health Center. Requirements

  • RN or LPN currently licensed in the state of Maryland.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Geriatric/rehabilitation experience with a good understanding of restorative nursing.
  • All new hires must be able to pass our preemployment screening process, which includes a fitness for duty physical, criminal background check, drug test and employment references as required by a licensed residential care facility.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises direct nursing care in the Health Center.
  • Administers direct nursing care when more than routine care is indicated.
  • Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment.
  • Assures accuracy and completeness of medical records.
  • Coordinates, conducts, and documents the MDS, resident care plans and conference in the absence of the MDS nurse.
  • Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts. Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Assists with orientation of nursing personnel.
  • Participates in family/resident counseling.
  • Responds to emergency calls as necessary.
  • Functions in the capacity of DON in his/her absence. (Applicable to RN’s only).
  • Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to resident care.
  • Some "on call" is required.
  • Assures timeliness of physician visits.
  • Accompanies physicians when making rounds.
  • Notifies physicians and family of changes in resident’s condition.
  • Encourages rehabilitative techniques in order to restore residents= independence.
  • Assures proper functioning of medical equipment and adequate medical supplies.
  • Assists DON in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Assists in infection control, safety and pharmacy rounds and audits.
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
