About The Position

Children’s Minnesota is one of the largest pediatric health systems in the United States and the only health system in Minnesota to provide care exclusively to children, from before birth through young adulthood. An independent and not-for-profit system since 1924, Children’s Minnesota is one system serving kids throughout the Upper Midwest at two free-standing hospitals, nine primary care clinics, multiple specialty clinics and seven rehabilitation sites. The Day Surgery Center, licensed as a freestanding ambulatory surgery center, provides care within the following service lines: Dental, ENT, Eye, General, GI, Ortho and Urology. Imaging services provided through our license as an Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility include MRI, general x-ray, and ultrasound. Sedation services are also provided. The pre/post op staff at Children’s – Minnetonka rotates working in three areas: PlayWait (admitting), PACU (post op recovery) and PH II (recovery, discharge). Our nurses have the ability to work through all specialties in a fast-paced outpatient setting, meeting the needs of children ages 3 months to 20 years of age before and after surgery. In 2018, we performed 3200 surgeries in these specialty areas: ear, nose and throat (ENT); dental and oral surgery; endoscopy; colonoscopy; plastics; general surgery; ophthalmology; physiatry; and urology. Children’s – Minnetonka has a highly experienced, dedicated nursing team. We value teamwork, open communication, safety and respect. Requirements

  • Current Minnesota RN license.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • One-year operating room experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and provides family-centered nursing care to infants, children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process.
  • Accountable for professional practice including independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions performed in collaboration with other health team members.
