About The Position

Performs duties in the Cath Lab related to various cardiology procedures, including diagnostic right and left heart catheterizations, pacemaker/ICD insertion, coronary interventions, peripheral angiography and interventions, pericardiocentesis, and other cardiology procedures as assigned. Functions as a member of the Regional Cath Lab Team to provide a safe and efficient environment. May require orienting, travel, working, and call coverage between Boise and Nampa Cath Lab departments. Maintains accurate and complete documentation of care provided, serves as a patient advocate, and utilizes resources wisely while promoting physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

Requirements

  • Registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), OR Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
  • Other certifications may be required as identified in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a staff member in a hospital cath lab or Radiology Department (Special Procedures) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties in Cath Lab including scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating.
  • Prepares and administers medications as directed by physician (Boise Only).
  • Performs and understands digital imaging, including dose and ensuring proper protection of staff and patient.
  • Performs ECG and Hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Prepares and assists in administering contrast agents by monitoring dosages and determining any potential allergies, ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures.
  • Anticipates and responds accordingly to the needs of the physician and patient.
  • Communicates clearly with patients the purpose and extent of procedures.
  • Contributes to comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments.
  • Participates in patient education based on assessed needs.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of elements of a plan of care based on patient's needs.
  • Communicates patient's current status and plan of care to other caregivers (verbally and in writing).
  • Prepares, administers, and evaluates the effectiveness of medications (Boise Only).
  • Demonstrates safe operation of patient care equipment.
  • Advocates for the rights of patients.
  • Collaborates with patients to provide nursing measures to alleviate or reduce pain.
  • Demonstrates therapeutic communication.
  • Establishes therapeutic and professional boundaries.
  • Integrates knowledge, experience, professional standards, and hospital policies into practice.
  • Meets unit-specific technical skills.
  • Ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients.
  • Demonstrates compliance with hospital safety policies and procedures.
