About The Position

This position is more than a job; it's an opportunity to be part of a surgical team. As a surgical nurse, you will be responsible for the patient's care before, during, and after surgery. Your role involves expert technical skills, teamwork, and communication. You will act as a bridge between the patient, doctor, and surgical care touchpoints, collaborating with the surgeon and anesthesiologist. This role is where intricacy, responsibility, and everyday extraordinary happens. You will prepare your patient for surgery, review patient history, and provide patient care and support, including supplies, medicine administration, patient positioning, vital signs monitoring, and health assessments. You will perform required clinical documentation and post-operative assessments. You will monitor your patient after surgery for pain and/or complications and the surgery site for healing or infection, following Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements. You will perform CPR or other emergency measures if required. You will collaborate to identify and meet the overall needs of patient care or when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely. You will maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone. You will ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient. You will initiate patient and family education on the operation and post-operation care.

Requirements

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities
