The Department of General and Specialized Surgery evaluates and treats common and complex conditions affecting the abdomen, gastrointestinal system, and breasts. Our experienced caregivers are skilled in minimally invasive methods, including robotic-assisted and laparoscopic surgeries. As an RN in the Operating Room, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional medical attention to patients. In this role, you can benefit from rewarding work and exposure to the Operating Room, which can lead to even more opportunities within the OR and within the Cleveland Clinic system. A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00AM – 4:30PM, with on-call requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • One year of OR experience
  • CNOR certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
