RN Operating Room Surgical Inst, Weekend Unit Based - Allegheny General Hospital
About The Position
Delivers professional nursing care within the perioperative arena to patients undergoing operative or other invasive procedures. This role is based in the Operating Room / Surgical Inst at Allegheny General Hospital and is a Weekend Casual position, requiring 48 hours every two weeks, scheduled between 11 am Friday and 7 am Monday. Orientation may require full-time work for a concentrated period. The position is part of a union. Allegheny General Hospital is a Level I Shock Trauma Center with 5 state-of-the-art ICUs, a state-of-the-art Cancer Center, and over 550 beds. Requirements
- Minimum Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- CPR certification
- 1+ Year recent RN OR Experience
Nice To Haves
- 1 year on specific unit is preferred
Responsibilities
- Coordinates use of supplies, instrumentation and equipment for pre and intraoperative care and ensures that the equipment is functioning properly.
- Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
- Acts as patient advocate and documents preoperative and intraoperative care delivered in compliance with hospital, departmental and regulatory agencies.
- Monitors the surgical environment to ensure that aseptic technique is followed by the surgical team.
