About The Position

The Oncology unit at Piedmont Athens Regional is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for patients with medical oncology, surgical oncology, comfort care, and inpatient hospice needs. As a CoC accredited facility, we offer numerous educational opportunities to our team, ensuring informed, oncology-centered care. Our nurses are encouraged and supported to become chemotherapy/biotherapy administration certified through ONS, enabling them to administer and educate patients and their support systems about these critical medications. The team is committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care from admission through discharge. The Oncology unit staff nurse utilizes nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care across the lifespan. They operate within the organization's policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for upholding standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities to ensure quality nursing care. Patient ratios are dynamic and influenced by factors such as patient volume and acuity, with potential adjustments for extenuating circumstances.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
  • No experience required New Graduates of a nursing program eligible Required
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. Required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Preferred
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients.
  • Functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
  • Responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
  • Patient ratios are determined by various factors, including volume and acuity of patient needs. Extenuating circumstances may determine a need for lower or higher ratios.
