About The Position

The RN Oncology position is located on 5 North, a 30-bed Medical Oncology unit within Butterworth Hospital. This unit specializes in the care of patients with oncology diagnoses, as well as a surgical population including obstetrics, gynecology, and gastrointestinal. Longer patient stays are common, allowing the team to build relationships with patients and their families. The unit offers continuous learning opportunities due to the variety of patient conditions, including general medical/surgical care alongside specialized oncology care. Teamwork is a core value, and new staff are welcomed warmly to ensure a positive experience. The unit welcomes both new graduate and experienced RNs who are passionate about this patient population and eager to grow their skills and gain long-term experience.

Requirements

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
• Oncology Nursing Certification (ONCC) Required within 1 year

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan.
• Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA, including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
• Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
