About The Position

The RN Oncology position is located on the 5 North unit at Butterworth Hospital, a 30-bed Medical Oncology unit specializing in the care of patients with oncology diagnoses, as well as a surgical population of obstetrics, gynecology, and gastrointestinal. This unit often has longer patient stays, allowing the team to build relationships with patients and their families. The unit offers a variety of patient conditions to learn from, including general medical/surgical patients alongside their cancer diagnoses. Teamwork is a key value on this unit, and new staff are welcomed warmly. The unit is looking for passionate individuals excited to grow their skills and gain long-term experience.

Requirements

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
• Oncology Nursing Certification (ONCC) Required within 1 year

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan.
• Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.
• Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
