About The Position

The RN – Oncology provides direct and indirect patient care in either the infusion treatment area or the provider’s clinic. The role includes patient assessment, medication administration, responding to reactions, patient education, documentation, and assisting providers as needed. Additional duties may be assigned within the scope of the role.

The position is based at Montgomery Cancer Center at Prattville Medical Park and is a regular, full-time role on the first shift.

Requirements

• Degree in Nursing required.
• Active RN licensure required.
• BLS certification required.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
• Strong team leadership, organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and proficient computer skills.
• Ability to understand complex multifactor situations and develop appropriate solutions.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of critical care or oncology experience preferred.
• Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, Chemo, or TNCC may be required depending on the assigned area.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the infusion treatment area or provider’s clinic.

• Administer medications and respond to reactions.
• Educate patients and document care.
• Assist providers as needed.
• Perform additional duties within the scope of the role.
• Organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments; supervise and train employees.
• Observe, assess, and record work, safety, and infection control standards.
