RN Oncology Infusion Nurse Manager
About The Position
This individual is seen as an expert in both the oncology nursing clinical and informatics environment. This individual is responsible for the development and implementation of efficient and effective programs for competency validation, continuing education, workforce development, and workflows systematically across the oncology infusion area. This individual is responsible for collaborating with facility leaders and nurse leadership team to achieve best practices, educational excellence and implementation of current health system initiatives. This individual demonstrates the clinical expertise to provide appropriate care to oncology infusion patient populations and serves as an educational resource to the oncology interdisciplinary patient care team. The specialist will ensure systematic nursing practice that is evidence based across the oncology infusion service line and serve as an information systems management expert regarding oncology nursing documentation, and workflows in the electronic medical record. Participates and/or leads committees, councils and strategies as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Required)
- 2 years RN Oncology experience (Required)
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in compact state Upon Hire(Required)
- BLS/CPR/AED - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
Nice To Haves
- Masters Degree, Nursing/ Informatics Nursing (Preferred)
- 3-4 years Supervisor experience (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and oversight to the infusion nursing teams across the oncology infusion service line to ensure evidence based systematic nursing practice across the division.
- Assures ongoing unit education and orientation produces high quality results through leadership and monitoring.
- Demonstrates mentoring of preceptors by teaching adult learner methods/techniques.
- Utilizes various materials to engage learners.
- Evaluates learner’s understanding to ensure educational goals are met.
- Integrates clinical, computer, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom within the oncology setting to ensure that clinical requirements of clinical practice/process are clearly integrated into the clinical application systems.
- Represents and facilitates support of clinical practice when participating in the planning, development, coordination of training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of clinical information systems by working with end-users and the team to develop system programing requirements and understanding system capabilities and limitations.
- Actively participates in the development, prioritization, and determination of core clinical decision-support systems by working with end-users, and the IS team to develop system programing requirements while understanding system capabilities and limitations.
- Identifies system or application issues, makes recommendations for, and assists in implementing solutions.
- The role works to optimize the clinical design to meet the needs of a large group of interdisciplinary end users, including physicians, nurses, ancillary, clinical and administrative staff.
- Working knowledge of patient care standards as published by DNV, CMS and professional nursing literature.
- Demonstrate knowledge of patient care delivery model and work design.
- Applies knowledge to optimize delivery of care improving efficiency and outcomes.
- Participates in strategic planning and quality initiatives.
- Identifies opportunities to improve service and patient care outcomes through the interpretation and application of regulatory and accreditation standards and results of patient satisfaction measures.
- Facilitates Quality and Risk Management initiatives to develop and measure the effectiveness of patient safety and patient satisfaction.
- Continuously improves the delivery and outcomes of comprehensive, quality, personalized care in accordance with patient safety standards, standards of excellence and the Riverside Code of Conduct.
- Stays ahead of Oncology Nursing industry trends and ensures ongoing compliance with current and new regulatory standards.
- Leads the development, maintenance, and systemization of policies, job aides, and clinical services for areas of responsibility.
- Continuously improve the delivery and outcomes of comprehensive, quality, personalized patient experience and in accordance with patient safety standards.
- Collaboration with leaders to identify opportunities and barriers for quality and service.
