About The Position

The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care to patients in all settings in collaboration with other health care providers. The RN is accountable for his/her own professional development and practice within the scope of care defined by law. Utilizing organizational resources the RN acts as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care including delegation of care and participation in performance and practice improvement activities. The delivery of nursing care within the Kettering Health Network reflects the missions, vision, values and philosophies, of the organization and nursing departments. The Registered Nurse reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager. The oncology infusion RN provides quality nursing care to patients experiencing hematological/oncological treatments and disease management including knowledge and skills to provide chemotherapy and biotherapy agents safely and effectively. Possesses and develops understanding of the oncologic process and oncologic emergencies. Knowledgeable to instruct patients and their support persons about disease, symptom management and treatment as well as advocate for their needs.

Requirements

  • Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (NLN or CCNE) if they are a new graduate nurse. New graduates from non-accredited programs may be considered if they had a clinical rotation at a network hospital.
  • ONS chemotherapy and Biotherapy administration certification (or obtained within 6months of hire)
  • At least 1 year of oncology nursing experience required
  • BLS certification

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred (must be completed within 5 years of hire).
  • OCN certification highly preferred
  • Preference given to RN’s with oncology clinical experience.
  • Experience with oncology EMR preferred
  • A nurse who is returning to the acute care setting after five or more years may be required to provide evidence of successful completion of a refresher course.
