The Observation Unit is an extension of the Emergency Room, caring for patients who meet pre-determined inclusion/exclusion standards. Patients are continually monitored by a licensed provider available 24/7. Clinically appropriate services include further diagnostic testing, ongoing short-term treatment, assessment, and reassessment. Patient disposition should be made within 24-48 hours. This is a full-time position with three 12-hour shifts per week, night shift from 7p-7:30a, including weekend and holiday rotation. The role supports Frederick Health's mission, vision, and core values, incorporating them into job performance and adhering to the Compliance Program. The Registered Nurse independently provides patient care using the nursing process, performing leadership and teaching duties to support effective patient care. They also support and participate in continuous quality improvement activities and function within the limits of state and federal licensing, regulatory bodies, and hospital policies.
