About The Position

Covenant Woods is seeking a Full-time 3-11 Supervisor. Makes rounds on all units several times during shift to assure that units are adequately staffed and that nursing care is being provided in accordance with all regulatory standards and Covenant Woods policies. Serves as a clinical resource to staff. Has oversight of all admissions and discharges. During shift, responds to resident emergencies. May serve as a unit charge nurse when necessary. Responsible for providing competency and skills testing to all nursing staff and assures the facility is in compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations. Member of Nursing Leadership.

Requirements

  • Must be capable of supervising and mentoring staff with varying degrees of education and experience.
  • Must possess strong clinical skills.
  • Must be able to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Must be an RN with a current license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication skills required.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Knowledge of how to operation all clinical equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of supervisory experience in a geriatric care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of nursing staff and assuring that all required documentation is completed in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner.
  • Practices cost control by covering vacancies in the schedule in a cost-effective manner that provides safe resident care.
  • Orients, supervises and evaluates staff; assures compliance with personnel policies and procedures, and assist with employee problem solving.
  • Assists with admissions and discharges of residents to assure needed support for residents and families and to assure that required nursing documentation is completed.
  • Assesses educational needs of clinical staff & provide appropriate training using training software and in-person sessions.
  • Participates in resident care as a Charge Nurse when needed.
  • Makes initial assessment of employee accidents.
  • Administers first aid or refers for further treatment.
  • Performs drug screen testing as needed.
  • Completes mandatory in-services.
  • Certified in CPR and AED.
  • Part of on-call rotation.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
