About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a full-time Nursing Manager to oversee their Transitional Care Unit (TCU). This role involves managing nursing staff, overseeing resident care and record-keeping for a 33-bed TCU. The facility is described as a 5-star, deficiency-free on 2 of the past 3 surveys, high-performing facility with strong census, high staffing ratios, and low staff turnover. The Good Samaritan - Ambassador facility in New Hope, MN, is a 77-bed facility specializing in Long Term and Post-Acute care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Three years of nursing management experience, two of which must be at the manager or higher level.
  • One year long term care or subacute care experience is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care, and a working knowledge of administrative and management techniques.
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • For Rural Health Network facilities and Good Samaritan Society (GSS) only, employees who do not possess a Bachelor’s degree in the required field, leadership may consider an educational plan with proven continuous action toward achieving a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing within five years of hire into position.
  • Additionally for Rural Health Network facilities and Good Samaritan Society (GSS) locations, for current employees, leadership may have considered acceptable qualifications and work experience equivalency based on facility size, rural market, and business need, prior to new Sanford education requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manages nursing staff assigned to a particular shift within the nursing home.
  • Takes action regarding provision of resources within the context of shifts or designated time frame.
  • Assigns residents to available nursing staff, considering resident's condition and employee's skill level.
  • Measures employee performance.
  • Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.
  • Monitors resident care areas and other nursing home facilities for cleanliness and readiness.
  • Provides nursing care to nursing home residents on an as needed basis.
  • May administer oxygen, basic life support (BLS), possible IVs, or medications as prescribed by a provider.
