About The Position
The RN Nursing Instructor provides classroom and clinical instruction and evaluates students at West Penn School of Nursing. The instructor contributes to Faculty Organization activities related to recruiting and admitting students and developing, implementing, and evaluating the nursing program. Responsibilities include developing course materials and examinations, supervising students in clinical settings, assessing student performance, participating in assigned committees, and supporting annual program evaluation activities to improve quality and maintain accreditation.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Nursing, or must obtain it within five years of hire.
- Current Pennsylvania RN license or current multistate licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Two years of experience in the clinical area of direct responsibility may be required, depending on specialty.
- American Heart Association CPR.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
Nice To Haves
- Two years of teaching experience in a school of nursing.
- Two years of inpatient Medical-Surgical RN experience, plus Behavioral Health experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach classroom theory for assigned courses, including developing course outlines, syllabi, bibliographies, teaching materials, and examinations in accordance with school policy.
- Provide clinical instruction and supervision to support student socialization and skill development and connect classroom theory with clinical practice.
- Evaluate student performance in classroom and clinical settings according to school policy.
- Contribute to the Faculty Organization and assigned standing committees.
- Participate in annual systematic evaluation activities to improve program quality and maintain accreditation.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
