About The Position

The West Penn School of Nursing, located in Bloomfield, offers a full-time program designed to prepare students for the RN licensure exam in 22 months. This diploma nursing program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). West Penn Hospital, a part of Allegheny Health Network (AHN), has received four-time Magnet® recognition and is nationally recognized for its burn care and OB-GYN care. The RN Nursing Instructor will provide classroom and clinical instruction and evaluation of students, and contribute to the functions of the Faculty Organization for student recruitment, admission, program development, implementation, and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Minimum Master's Degree in Nursing required or must be obtained within 5 years of hire
  • Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • 2 years experience in clinical area of direct responsibility may be required depending on specialty
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Nice To Haves

  • Two years teaching experience in a school of nursing
  • Specialty experience of Med/Surg plus: ICU/Critical Care, OB/Pediatrics, Behavioral Health/Psych

Responsibilities

  • Teaches classroom theory for assigned courses, including course development, creation of outlines, syllabi, bibliographies, teaching materials, and examinations according to school policy to ensure instruction is current and relevant.
  • Provides clinical instruction and supervision in the clinical area to assist the student in socialization, skill development, and the correlation of classroom theory to clinical area.
  • Evaluates student performance in the classroom and in the clinical area according to school policy to ensure the promotion and graduation of students.
  • Contributes to the Faculty Organization and its standing committees as assigned to carry out the functions of the organization.
  • Contributes to the annual systematic evaluation activities to improve program quality and maintain accreditation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
