Requirements

  • Must have a current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
  • A minimum of two years supervisory/management experience necessary.
  • Minimum of three years of continuous clinical experience in a clinical/acute care setting.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), required for all hires after 1/11/2021.

Responsibilities

  • The Acute Care Manager is a Registered Nurse who assumes 24-hour administrative responsibility for the management and operations of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical Units.
  • The manager is responsible for supervising, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of patient care across all assigned acute care service lines.
  • Develops and implements departmental goals, strategic initiatives, performance improvement activities, and regulatory compliance programs to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • The Acute Care Manager provides leadership and oversight of all personnel assigned to the ICU, Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical Units, ensuring appropriate staffing, productivity, competency, and professional development.
  • Effectively utilizes human, financial, and material resources to support operational efficiency and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintains accountability for patient throughput, quality metrics, patient experience, staff engagement, and regulatory readiness.
  • The manager collaborates closely with physicians, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, and hospital administration to facilitate interdisciplinary care coordination, remove barriers to patient flow, and promote achievement of organizational goals.
  • Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, patients, families, and executive leadership both verbally and in writing.
  • Serves as a resource and consultant regarding clinical operations, policy interpretation, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practice, while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
