About The Position

McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center is your community medical provider, serving the Willamette Valley and its residents. Our 113-bed hospital offers inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, medical, surgical and emergency care. We are a family of caregivers offering care to our larger family — our community. Under the guidance of the Director of Nursing Services, the Critical Care Nurse Educator assists in planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, managing and evaluating educational experiences for staff of our Critical Care and Cath Lab Departments. Must be well versed in medical, surgical, and cardiovascular intensive care practices. Responsibilities for staff development include acting as a facilitator, educator and resource person.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
  • Current BLS, ACLS required.
  • Three to five years' experience as a nurse in an intensive care setting with current acute care skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in teaching.
  • Experience in instruction/education required.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles required.
  • Evidence of creativity, integrity, initiative and leadership skills.
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume department.
  • Possess cooperative working skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide variety of staff and physicians.
  • Experience as a clinical preceptor.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or master's degree preferred.
  • PALS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, managing and evaluating educational experiences for staff of our Critical Care and Cath Lab Departments.

  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate educational programs.
  • Ability to provide direct patient care when needed.
