About The Position

This is a 29 bed Level 3 neonatal critical care unit, caring for neonates 28 weeks and up. The unit has a team-like atmosphere with a Neonatologist and NNP on duty 24 hours a day. Nursing staff participate in various hospital nursing councils, are NRP certified, and attend all high-risk deliveries. NICU nurses, along with a multidisciplinary team, are involved in transporting infants from neighboring hospitals to Beaumont Dearborn's NICU. This state-of-the-art center provides advanced specialty and routine care with an emphasis on patient satisfaction and medical advancement. The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care, incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures, recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning the plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patients/families, documenting education and learning appropriately in the health record.

Requirements

  • Associates or Diploma in Nursing Required
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing Required within 5 years if new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience
  • Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
  • AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire
  • NRP within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • 1 year RN NICU experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
