About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) to join a remarkable team at Wisconsin's #1 hospital. The 12-bed Neurosciences ICU on D4/4 offers a fast-paced, collaborative environment to care for some of the most complex and critically ill adult patients within the neuro specialty. The unit provides care for adult patients in a critical care setting with both ICU and IMC levels of care. Nurses will gain experience with a variety of neurology, neurosurgical, and stroke conditions, including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, traumatic brain injuries, hydrocephalus, cerebral aneurysm, and other neurovascular diseases. The role requires strong critical thinking skills and interventions such as vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring, feeding tubes, drains, and frequent neuro assessments. The team is dynamic and supportive, and an integral part of nationally recognized neuroscience programs committed to providing expert care.

Requirements

Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire
Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire
ACLS within 6 months

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Relevant RN experience
Relevant certification

Responsibilities

Care for the adult patient population in a critical care setting with ICU as well as IMC level of care.
