RN Neuro ICU
About The Position
Skyline Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NVICU) in Nashville, TN. This 16-bed unit provides specialized care for neurocritical patients, with patient ratios typically 2:1, sometimes adjusting to 1:1 or 3:1 based on acuity and staffing. The unit has a secretary during the day and occasional nurse externs assisting as techs. Equipment includes ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, and EV 1000. Scheduling is done in 4-week increments with self-scheduling options, and a minimum of 4 weekend shifts per schedule is required. Contract labor is prioritized for floating to med/surg if needed. RNs are expected to provide attentive and compassionate care.
Requirements
- Active RN license
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- ICU experience
- Experience with insertion of central lines, arterial lines, lumbar punctures, chest tube insertions, EVD insertions.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, EV 1000.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members.
- Perform procedures such as insertion of central lines, arterial lines, lumbar punctures, chest tube insertions, and EVD insertions.
- Operate and monitor equipment including ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, and EV 1000.
- Document patient care using Meditech.
- Adhere to unit staffing and scheduling requirements, including weekend shifts.
- Float to med/surg units if required, as per hospital policy.
