This is a Part Time Night Shift position in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Atrium Health Union West. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The Registered Nurse (RN) will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, actively involving patients and families throughout their care continuum. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, and collaborating with the care team to positively influence care outcomes. The position requires upholding a culture of safety, continuously evaluating patient, team, and unit outcomes, and taking appropriate action. Duties may include administering medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols. Effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution are essential for fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. The RN is expected to pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications, adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics and practicing ethical decision-making. Appropriate delegation to other nursing staff is also a key responsibility, along with maintaining accurate and timely EHR documentation. The role may require floating to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, including understanding growth and development principles and assessing data reflective of patient status to meet age-specific needs.
