About The Position

Registered Nurse position on a 34-bed medical-surgical unit. The unit cares for patients across the age range from adolescents to elderly adults, including surgical patients, medical patients requiring telemetry, and patients requiring wall suction. Common cases include hip, knee, and shoulder replacements, appendectomies, exploratory laparotomies, hernias, and small bowel obstructions. The unit is a joint center of excellence and is the only medical-surgical unit with wall suction.

The care delivery model is one RN, one LPN, and one PCT per nine patients; modified teams are used when full teams are unavailable. Staffing ratios are 1:9 on all shifts. Floating to another medical-surgical unit is required. Weekend coverage is every other weekend or four weekend shifts per month. Applicants must live more than 75 miles away; local candidates are not accepted. First-time travelers are accepted. Scrubs may be any combination of navy blue and/or white.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification.
• NIHSS certification.
• Must live more than 75 miles away; local candidates are not accepted.

Nice To Haves

• Previous charge experience is preferred.
