About The Position
Registered Nurse position on the MS Float unit, a combined 61-bed medical-surgical unit. Patient populations include surgical patients (including total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, and general surgery) and medical patients (including CHF, CVA, shortness of breath, and diabetic issues). The unit has a day shift ratio of 1:5 and a night shift ratio of 1:6. Nurse aides have a ratio of 1:15. The unit has telemetry: monitor technicians read strips, and RNs confirm them. RNs are not required to titrate drips. The role includes floating requirements, an every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday requirement, and call or standby with LCD. Orientation includes travel CBO and a unit-specific float checklist. Any scrub color is permitted.
Requirements
- BLS certification is required.
- Must meet the experience or skills expected for the current medical-surgical unit.
- Must confirm telemetry strips after they are read by the monitor technician.
- Must meet floating requirements.
- Must work every other weekend and every other holiday.
- Must meet the call or standby requirement with LCD.
